Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home.
Kicking off the adventure in Tokyo, I spent the first day balancing remote work with immersing myself in the fast-paced city life. 港区 (Minato City) offered a perfect backdrop for productivity, with its blend of modern skyscrapers and tranquil green spaces. I found a quiet café to settle into my work routine, with a view of the bustling city streets just outside. By the afternoon, I made my way to 渋谷区 (Shibuya), where neon lights and famous crossings created a unique energy. After a productive day, a quick stroll through Shibuya's vibrant streets felt like a reward.
The following day, I was back in 港区 for some early morning work. With the skyline of Tokyo as my view, it felt like an inspiring start. Once tasks were complete, I ventured to 台東区 (Taitō), home to historic sites like Asakusa and Ueno. Walking among temples and traditional markets was a stark contrast to the modernity I had seen in Minato. From there, I continued to 墨田区 (Sumida), where the iconic Tokyo Skytree towered above. My day concluded in 千代田区 (Chiyoda), where the Imperial Palace sits at the heart of Tokyo, a peaceful end to a day packed with exploration and productivity.
A shift from cityscapes to nature marked the third day of my journey. Starting in 川口市 (Kawaguchi), I headed north to 日光市 (Nikkō), famous for its UNESCO World Heritage sites. As I took in the serene beauty of Nikkō’s temples and shrines, I felt a deeper connection to Japan’s cultural roots. Later, returning to Tokyo’s 渋谷区 and 足立区 (Adachi), I blended work with exploration, before wrapping up the day once more in 千代田区, where the peaceful palace grounds invited reflection.
港区 once again became my workspace, with its urban landscape providing both inspiration and a sense of calm. Afterward, I wandered into 中央区 (Chūō), home to the upscale shopping district of Ginza. The mixture of luxury and historic sites was energizing, especially as I prepared to dive back into my work. 台東区 and 千代田区 rounded out the day, offering a deeper connection to both the old and new facets of Tokyo.
Leaving behind the city, I set off for 箱根町 (Hakone), where hot springs and views of Mount Fuji created a peaceful retreat. A few hours of work with such stunning scenery made the day feel productive yet relaxing. From there, I ventured to 鎌倉市 (Kamakura), a city filled with ancient temples and the iconic Great Buddha. The change in pace and environment allowed me to recharge while staying connected to my work.
Traveling deeper into Japan’s countryside, I spent time in 松本市 (Matsumoto) and later moved through the historic city of 金沢市 (Kanazawa). The beautiful preserved districts and traditional teahouses were a highlight. In 高山市 (Takayama), famous for its wooden merchant houses and mountainous views, I found a serene space to focus on work while enjoying the rich culture.
Kyoto provided a few days of calm yet focused work. Balancing time between exploring its temples and gardens, including the famous Fushimi Inari Shrine, and getting my tasks done in peaceful cafés felt seamless. A quick day trip to 奈良市 (Nara) on the 21st allowed me to see the giant Buddha and feed the friendly deer, a perfect blend of work and leisurely exploration.
Visiting 広島市 (Hiroshima) was an emotional experience. After spending a few hours working, I visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Later, I headed to 廿日市市 (Hatsukaichi), home to the famous Itsukushima Shrine, where the floating torii gate against the setting sun provided a perfect end to the day.
大阪市 (Osaka) was a refreshing change of pace, with its lively streets and renowned food scene. I managed to find a balance between work and exploring the famous Dotonbori district. Later, I made my way to 神戸市 (Kobe), known for its harbor views and mountainous backdrop, adding a beautiful contrast to the urban experiences of the day. Returning to Osaka on the 24th, I dove back into work before indulging in the city’s renowned culinary delights.
The final day of my journey brought me back to Tokyo, where 新宿区 (Shinjuku) served as my last stop. Amid the towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, I found a quiet spot to wrap up work before taking one last stroll through this incredible city. Shinjuku’s energy was the perfect way to close out this unforgettable work-and-travel experience in Japan.
